“After a thorough review and detailed investigation, my office has determined that candidate Tami Rey will be placed on the August 2, 2022 ballot. 

Two individuals had submitted challenges to the sufficiency of her petition signatures as well as the validity of her address on her Affidavit of Identity. By law, my office has a duty to investigate challenges submitted. Both challenges were thoroughly investigated and examined, consistent with our policies and procedures with advice and support from our legal counsel. 

An initial review determined candidate Rey had placed two different addresses in her candidate paperwork. Upon being informed of this, candidate Rey submitted legally sufficient paperwork declaring she no longer lives at the registered address she signed on her petition. Rey has one residence and has declared and affirmed she has corrected her voter registration. 

As your clerk, I take my constitutional obligation to support fair, secure and accurate elections seriously. Election integrity and election security remain my highest priorities and I commend our capable staff and legal team for a fair, thorough and transparent review of these challenges.”
